Tadelakt by Pisa Alta Decoration is a traditional lime-based decorative plaster designed to create continuous mineral finishes with natural depth, movement and character. Inspired by classic Moroccan-style Tadelakt, it is made from natural hydraulic lime, marble sands and marble dust, producing a breathable, durable and highly decorative surface for both interior and exterior applications.

Available in Fino and Medium grades, Pisa Tadelakt gives applicators control over the final texture and level of refinement. Tadelakt Fino is ideal for smoother, finer finishes, while Tadelakt Medium creates a more pronounced mineral texture with a classic trowelled appearance. Supplied in its natural pale beige colour, it can be mixed with compatible water-based toners to achieve the desired shade.

Why Choose Pisa Tadelakt?

Traditional Lime-Based Finish: Made with natural hydraulic lime and marble sands to create an authentic continuous mineral coating.

Fino & Medium Options: Choose Fino for smoother, thinner coats or Medium for a more textured, traditional Tadelakt finish.

Interior & Exterior Use: Suitable for indoor and outdoor decorative plaster applications when applied to correctly prepared substrates and protected where required.

Naturally Breathable: Its mineral composition allows the surface to remain vapour permeable, making it ideal for traditional and contemporary lime-based finishes.

Tintable Natural Base: Supplied in a natural pale beige powder and mixable with compatible water-based toners to create bespoke colours.

Excellent Durability: Offers high resistance to rubbing and wear once fully cured, with progressive hardening over time through carbonation.

Technical Specifications:

Product Type: Single-component powdered mineral decorative plaster.

Composition: NHL natural hydraulic lime, marble sands and marble dust, with small amounts of organic additives to support adhesion on modern substrates.

Use: Interior and exterior decorative wall finishes.

Colour: Natural pale beige, supplied without added colour.

Tinting: Colours are obtained by mixing with Pisa Dyes/Toners or compatible water-based toners. For exterior applications, only use dyes or toners suitable for outdoor use.

Available Grades: Fino and Medium.

Grain Size: Fino up to 0.35mm; Medium up to 0.5mm.

Finish: Matt to high gloss, depending on the level of trowel polishing, compacting and finishing technique.

Application Tools: Stainless-steel trowel, brush, spraying equipment and roller for first coats on larger projects where suitable.

Mixing: Add water first, then toner if required, followed by the Tadelakt powder. Mix mechanically until fully homogenised.

Water Requirement: Fino: 11kg with approximately 4.8–5L of water. Medium: 15kg with approximately 6–6.2L of water.

Mix Life: Approximately 3 days once mixed.

Maximum Thickness Per Coat: Fino: 1mm. Medium: 1.5–1.7mm.

Interval Between Coats: Fino: 14–16 hours. Medium: 16–18 hours at 20°C and 55% relative humidity.

Drying Time: Approximately 48 hours until completely dry at 20°C and 55–65% relative humidity.

Full Hardening: Continues to harden by carbonation, reaching considerable hardness after approximately 30 days.

Working Temperature: 7°C to 32°C for both surface and surrounding environment.

Substrate Preparation: Surfaces must be dry, firm, well-adhered and free from salts, mould, algae, grease, soot, dust and other contaminants. Suitable primer or preparation products should be used depending on the substrate.

Suitable Substrates: Cement, lime and mixed plasters, plasterboard, water-resistant plasterboard, projected plaster, perlite plaster, suitable mortars, Wedi panels, selected painted surfaces and suitable prepared wood-based boards.

Protection: Tadelakt is hard but absorbent, so a suitable protective system is recommended in areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, passageways and façades. Pisa lists compatible protective options including Tadelakt Wax Soap, Marmorino Wax, Stucco Wax and single-component water-based varnishes.

Washability: Excellent after 28 days, but protective treatment is required to prevent absorption and staining.

Coverage: Fino approximately 1.6–1.8kg/m² in two coats. Medium approximately 2.2–2.4kg/m² in two coats.

pH: 11.5 ± 0.5.

Bulk Density: Fino powder: 1.7 ± 0.05g/cm³. Medium powder: 1.4 ± 0.2g/cm³.

Hardness After 30 Days: Fino: 100 Shore C. Medium: 116 Shore C.

Water Vapour Permeability: Fino Sd = 0.36m. Medium Sd = 0.34m.

Abrasion Resistance: Excellent after 30 days.

Cleaning of Tools: Water before the material dries.

Shelf Life: Approximately 14 months unopened when stored between 5°C and 32°C. Protect from frost and high temperatures.
